Valkyrie to Vendetta Lascannons

Here is the twin linked lascannons I am making in advance to put onto my Valkyrie. These are the standard sponson lascannons from a predator.  I had two pairs of them left over after finishing a couple of blood angel baal predators.  You simply take the left and right lascannon and remove the rivets on the sides without the skulls.  Then its simply a matter of gluing them together. My plan is to add magnets to the tops, and then place magnets within the valkyrie wings so that I can switch between missiles, rocket pods and lascannon.  I already have the magnets, which I got from Hobby Lobby and they are strong enough to hold through plastic.  I use this trick on my sponsons with my Leman Russes.  I just need to wait until Saturday to get my Valkyrie, so I can see where the magnets need to go...

My Beloved, Slavering Space Wolf Horde!

Well, this being my first post, I thought I’d start off with an introduction to my current army. For the last several months I’ve been building, painting, refining, etc. my Space Wolves, and with the sudden upwelling of murmurs regarding their new codex, I’m getting more and more into the build. It seems likely that I will only be playing this particular list for the remainder of the spring and summer, as the new codex will likely drastically change the army. (Read the rumored 60 point/6 attack terminators with lightning claws) Currently, the Space Wolf army list has a number of overpriced and easily killable options along with an armoury full of unusable equipment. My favorite black primer

My favorite black primer

Well before GW cranked up the price on their primers I had been looking for a replacement. I found a very good black primer that I have been using for several months now – Rust-Oleum Black Automobile Primer. Even though it is an automotive primer it works amazingly on both plastic and metal models. It goes on smooth and thin. I have yet to notice any detail obscurement from spraying too thick. The only downside this paint has is that it does not exactly match Chaos Black. It is just a tad bit lighter. This hasn’t been a problem for me though. Even when I dry-brush over it with another color and leave the primer as the black basecoat it looks just fine. If you are painting a large number of models of tanks and are going to be using black primer it is well worth it for you...

Valkyrie/Vendetta Rules Queries

I cannot wait for my first valkyrie to come in. I think its just the kind of models that GW should be producing. However, I have seen the new codex and it does not address two rules that will become a bit of an issue for the model. 1. It can deep strike and scout. This means it can outflank. Does this mean it can outflank while carrying a number of troops, bestowing its scout ability upon them? RAW – There is nothing to indicate that it cannot. If it is argued that it cannot outflank with troops, then drop pods cannot also carry troopers, since it would actually also be bestowing an ability on troops that normally themselves cannot deep strike RAI – I think it is certainly meant to outflank with troops, the idea being that the skimmer comes in flying up at the edge of the...

Its a Demolisher for now, but it is destined to become an executioner. With the coming of the new codex and the lumbering behemoth and squadron rules, I just can’t get the executioner out my lists. The ability to drop 5 plasma blasts a turn has the potential to ruin any armies day. Whats more, I am seriously thinking about taking two squadrons of two tanks, both centered around an executioner. Is that too dirty for a tournament list? I will order the plasma cannon turret(s) from forgeworld soon. I am torn between the two and can’t decide which one I like better:

Not to be outdone, I have been working on a card stock warhound titan of my own. The last time we played apocalypse the single enemy warhound titan destroyed alot of stuff and pretty much owned the game until a deep striking terminator with a vortex grenade could take it out. Seeing this as a very anticlimactic end to such an enemy, I have built this beast to offer more competition. We will have to let them duel very soon. Building this thing was nothing short of a nightmare. (I used plans from the net.
