Terrain – Junk Shop

Terrain – Junk Shop

Here is an easy building that I cranked out. I had a bunch of junk left over from some toys I tore apart for bits and decided to make up a junk shop piece of terrain. I wanted this piece to look real rusty and have lots of metal on it. I decided to make the main part of the building out of a piece of corrugated cardboard that I found at work. I have read several articles on splitting a corrugated box to get type of texture but I lucked out and found a giant sheet that was one sided corrugated. This ended up saving a ton of time. Have you ever tried to split a piece of cardboard? You will know what I am talking about if you have. I just rolled the piece of cardboard into a half tube shape and glued it to my piece...

Ork Codex Rules – Attack Squig

Every so often I see people posting threads about the Ork attack squig. For some reason people are confused if the attack squig gives you an extra attack when armed with a power klaw. I don’t know why people get confused about this. The entry says that it gives you +1 attack. I guess because of the way fifth handles power klaws/additional ccw they think the squig might not grant an extra power klaw attack. I say it does based on this - Some models have items that give them different attacks that are seperate from their equipment. Example – a Techmarine with a servo harness gets an extra attack but it is at a set initiave with a set strength value. If the attack squig was not supposed to give you a flat extra attack with no matter what weapon you are equiped with it would list it...

Tactica Imperial Guard: Executioner

Tactica Imperial Guard: Executioner

Tactica: Executioner Battle TankThe executioner is a new tank choice for IG with the coming of their 5th edition codex. The turret mounted plasma cannon throws down 3 plasma blast templates per turn, costing you 190 points. The logical choice is then to add in the pair of plasma cannon sponsons, enabling the tank to throw down 5 blasts per turn, costing a total of 230 points. Primary Strength:1) This outfitting of the tank makes it hell on wheels (treads) for any expensive elite troop unit. Each blast has the potential to catch several models. If the unit is tightly bunched each blast can really touch a lot of models bases. The multiple blasts means that all are fired and models hit are counted prior to removing any casualties, which can really give some impressive numbers of hit models. This makes it a much more effective tank at removing...

Link – Daemon Unit Review

I just stumbled on this site and thought it had some really good ideas on Chaos Daemon units. One interesting idea was to not take any icons. The reasoning is that you are already random and by the time you will be able to use them most of your units will be in hand to hand so it would mitigate the benefit. Not sure on this one. I will definitely give it a try for a game or two and see how it works. Link – http://40kdaemonreview.blogspot.com/

Terrain – Curved Wall

Terrain – Curved Wall

Here is another simple piece of terrain we threw together out of some Hirst-Arts mold pieces. These pieces came from the fieldstone tower mold. We cast it a few times and then stacked them up like so. Primed it black, dry brushed grey, and then hit it with some flock. Quick and easy wall. I like that it is curved, breaks up the monotony of straight walls.

Forge World Catalogue

Forge World Catalogue

Got the new forge world catalog and I must say it is very nice.  I  haven’t seen a paper catalog like this in years, and I wonder how they are considering will help their sales?  Regardless, it is well done and worth calling or emailing about to get your free copy. I flip through it and think, wow I would like to have that model, and that model, and that model, ad ifinitum….. That’s right – its absolutely free.  Don’t be the person on ebay to buy this from the goober trying to hawk it to make a quick buck!

Chaos Space Marines Tactica – Blood Feeder

Chaos Space Marines Tactica – Blood Feeder

This is definately an oxy-moronic post. Trying to write a tactica for one of the most random things in 40k seems kind of counter-intuitive but I am gonna give it a shot anyway. I like the Blood Feeder. For those of you that don’t know the Blood Feeder is the special daemon weapon for Khorne marked Chaos Space Marine Lords. A normal daemon weapon gives the wielder an extra d6 attacks. If they roll a one they take a wound and stand there making no attacks. The Blood Feeder, however, gives you 2d6 extra attacks. Pretty awesome right? Yeah. But if you roll a one on either of the dice you take a wound and just stand there. I know, I know – that is a 1 in 3 chance to just stand there and not do anything during the assault phase. Not really something you can bank on....

Pink Horrors Conversion

Pink Horrors Conversion

I am not a fan of units of metal models. They are expensive and nothing gets under my skin like putting together ten or twenty flimsy pewter models. Some of the most flimsy pewter models I have ever come across are the Pink Horrors of Tzeentch. They are like little spindly balls with long thin arms connected back to a shallow scorp in the side of an amorphous blob. No way. After I put the second one of these lovely little guys together I pried my fingers apart and started looking for some different models to use. The main ideas are using either WHFB Dryads or Ghouls for these guys. Since Wildeyedjester already was using some Ghouls in his army I decided I would go the Dryad route. The Dryads ended up being a solid choice. They are just a spindly and thin as the metal models but they...

Hooray for Pewter Boobies!!

Hooray for Pewter Boobies!!

I found this model in my bits box, and then I promptly sold it on ebay for $40.00. I really don’t think its that great of a model. Its pretty static and rather blah. Yes its a female commissar, and yes you can see her cleavage. Does this make this model worth $40.00? I really didn’t think so. What is truly ironic about this situation is I remember when I bought this model. It was the only commissar in the shop at the time, and I purchased two of these. I remember thinking, man where are the cool commissar models? (This was about 12 years back). I also remember thinking that I needed these for a tournament and so I bought a pair of them in blisters. That terribly painted IG army that included the first female commissar has long since sailed to another home, but apparently I still...
