First Rank Fire, Second Rank

First Rank Fire, Second Rank

So I found this image in a forum on Dakka, and I am thinking maybe I have found the picture that was Robin Cruddace’s inspiration for the order. This has to be the most often attempted order that I am throwing down in my lists. I don’t find it all that much more effective, but picking up and throwing down 28 dice is lots of fun any way! However, for whatever reason, my troops don’t understand orders at all and I must fail my order rolls at least 70% of the time. I guess its my cannibal legion – they don’t have any use for any orders other than to feed.

Imperial Guard Command Squad

Imperial Guard Command Squad

Update: 6/30/09 Big D’s squad made it into Bols top 10 finalists!  Head on over to their site and vote for the best squad! http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2009/06/40k-voting-ig-command-squad-challenge.html -Wildeyedjester Here are some shots of my Imperial Guard Command Squad that I put together for the contest over at Bell of Lost Souls. Here is a WIP shot that I took. The only conversions that I did on these guys was a head swap. I used Kolony Militia heads from Pig Iron Productions so they would match my Death Korps of Krieg and Steel Legion units that I have been modeling up for my Imperial Guard army. And here is a shot of them all painted up and pretty - My favorite model is the guy in the middle. I just love the little riding crop/cane bit. It was just too cool not to use.

Building a Display Board: Part 1

Building a Display Board: Part 1

Last year at the Big Waaagh! I got ridiculously annoyed with my little fighting men when I had to repeatedly take them out/put them back in my foam carrying cases, so this year I’m building a display board that will also function as a more easily arranged form of transport. The general theme of my bases has been snow and rocks, so I decided to do a snow scene, rolling hills with interspersed trees. I’m a teacher, and I cannibalized some terrain trees from student projects. I also purchased a very large piece of insulation foam from the hardware store. (I got some peculiar looks as I broke the 4’ x 8’ piece into smaller pieces in order to fit it in my less-than-roomy Civic.) I also purchased/used some other supplies from a craft store/my garage. Here’s a list: 1. 4’x8’ piece of insulation foam (remove the plastic coating)2....

Unique Tournament Comp Restrictions (Game Zone Alpha)

Our group has never played at Game Zone Alpha, but some of us are considering playing in their 1850 point rogue trader on the 26th. There is 120 points possible, with 60 for battle, 30 for sportsmanship, and 30 for composition. They have a very interesting comp system they are using and I am posting it below:Everyone will start with 30 points in army composition then I will apply the rules based off of the scoring breakdown below. The army composition scoring breakdown is as follows:-10 Army list is illegible / unreadable-10 If you do not have copies of the list to hand out to your opponents (will be added later if needed)-30 If you do not have a list to turn in to the tournament organizerHQ-1 Maximum number of HQ choices-1 More than 1 named character model-2 3 or more named character models. (This includes other force org....

Conversion – Daemon Prince of Slaanesh – With Lash!

Conversion – Daemon Prince of Slaanesh – With Lash!

That’s right folks. One of the most hated models in all of 40k – the Slaaneshi Daemon Prince with Lash of Submission. Since I play Chaos Space Marines it was only a matter of time before I ended up with one. I have had this model done for about a year or so and thought I would share with you how I went about converting and painting it. The base of this model is the GW Daemon Prince. The only real conversion work I did on this guy was to add a whip and some wings. Both were pretty easy. Since we played Warhammer Fantasy back in the day we still have a pretty big bitz box from that era. I dug around in there and found one of my old Winged Nightmares from when I played Vampire Counts. Lo and behold if the wings didn’t look like they...

Traitor Guard Hellhound

Traitor Guard Hellhound

This is my hellhound for my Cannibal Legion.  The head is again out of my bits box and was green stuffed onto the body of the tank.  The tank on the back is actually an old glue bottle and was attached using greenstuff and guitar wires.  The hellhound is a nice tank, but its not as effective as I might like for it to be with tournament armies.  Lately, I’ve been trying the version with the multi melta in the hull and this seems to make it better against all comers lists.  This is one of my favorite models, so even though its not the most generally effective tank of my collection, I still always field it!

Conversion – Fiends of Slaanesh

Conversion – Fiends of Slaanesh

A while back I proxied in some models for some Fiends of Slaanesh for my Chaos Daemon army. After using them for one game I decided that I had to have some. These things are just crazy. After looking and looking for some alternate models (GW wants $20 a pop for these guys) I settled on making up some Daemonette/Spider Centaur models. Wildeyedjester was actually thinking about doing this for a Fantasy Daemon army – but I beat him to the punch! Just looking at the individual model you would think these would make better Seekers than Fiends. I thought so too. I was quite torn over using them as Fiends because of the size. The regular Fiend model is pretty tall and these guys hug the ground. I decided to get around this by modeling some taller bases so these guys are up off the ground a bit....

The project that wouldn’t end

The project that wouldn’t end

I swear, I will only ever have one defiler in my chaos army because this sucker took me forever! I paint slow enough on a good day. This model has so much surface area it is ridiculous. Never the less, I thought I would share some pics now that I have this bad boy finished. I might go back and add some swirling chaos-like colors to the blue areas to make it look more demonic, but for now I’m calling it good enough. I’m not the best painter, but I do pride myself on conversions. Some of the extras I put on it with some bits from my box: -Used the ccw as medusa tendrils (more freaky)-Empire great cannon for the battle cannon (now all I need is someone to “lash” people into nice tight clusters) >:)-Extended the weapons to look more like arms with weapons instead of weapons...
