Happy New Years Eve – Drunken Space Marine Song

Happy New Years Eve!  Remember don’t drink and drive tonight, but also remember that when you drink, you are still a gamer at heart.  Below is a snippet, posted by Littleboyblues of what can happen when you drink too much and have a mind for gaming.  Check it out – Its pretty cool and its pretty funny! Littleboyblues:   Some mild language i suppose so be warned. All my friends and I built a fire and got drunk and roasted marshmallows and this came out of that. Another warning I can’t sing and I was most definitely inebriated. Just posting this to share with my fellow 40kers… and all xenos and chaos suck!    http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=160216404469#/video/video.php?v=160216404469&subj=775839469

IG Under Construction

IG Under Construction

Santa brought me some goodies from Forgeworld this year, so I thought I would post a couple work in progress pics of one of my Medusas. I intend to use it as a Medusa, but through the wonder of magnets, it can easily be changed into a Basilisk. The hinges in the cannons and the gun supports are where the magnets have been placed. If you are going to do something like this, I would recommend making sure the magnets all line up so your gun doesn’t go on crocked or some other way not straight. I had to file the magnets several times to ensure the gun was in line with the rest of the vehicle. To give it a more personal touch, I added the crewman operating the spotlight and some sandbags in front of the gun shield. Nothing fancy, but I think it gives it a...

Harlequin Eldar Part 2

Harlequin Eldar Part 2

have completed the harlequin pattern on the models and have moved on to the cloth portions of the eldar.  I am going with a light blue to ice blue on the cloth to starkly contrast with the pink on the models.  I would like to come back in and add in some free hand on the larger cloth portions of the models but I will wait until they are nearly completed to make sure that I don’t put too much on the models. I have painted the leathers black and then highlighted with adeptus battle gray.  This will be washed with a black ink at a later stage to tie the colors together. Following the blue on the models, I have gone in and base coated all the wraithbone portions of the model a khaki color which will serve as a lower shading for the bone color which will...

Necrons, a different take

Necrons, a different take

I recently painted up a necron force. (not entirely done) I wanted something different than the same old same old. If you don’t know what that means simply go to Google and type in ‘necron’. You should be bombarded with pics of armies dry brushed silver and some of the fancier ones include washes. Necrons are suppose to be an ancient race and I’m not sure on the exact type of metal they’re made of. (I’m sure it’s some kind of super fancy space metal) Most metals I’ve ever dealt with rust. If they don’t rust then they surely can and do oxidize. I don’t know about fancy space metals but I wanted to try a more realistic approach with my necrons. I went with earth tones and a heavy weathered and rusted affect. Since I went with earth tones and browns the green rods did nothing to complement...

The Harlequins part 1

The Harlequins part 1

Started working on painting the Harlequins for my wraith wall army.  I absolutely love these models, and I know they will be a challenge for me for sure.  I am going to remain with my very limited palette of using pinks, bones and blues.  In this army there will be no metallic colors.  I don’t want to go overboard on painting the harlequin pattern, and I am going to try to go for a bit larger diamond pattern than the norm.  Such are my goals – we will see how it turns out. I painted the areas the pink color that I mixed up by mixing privateer press coral pink and warlock pink as the base.  The I lightly painted on the diamond pattern with black paint and filled in the diamond shapes.  I have done this sparsely on the models because I don’t want that to take away...

Imperial Fists Land Raider Redeemer

Imperial Fists Land Raider Redeemer

Behold the Yellow Thunder! Oh man, this thing was a blast – start to finish. Despite playing 40k for a few years now this is actually the first Land Raider that I put together myself. A while back I did convert/paint up a Land Raider that I traded off of Jester, but he had already assembled it. As Jester and I have been talking about my tournament list for the upcoming year it was decided that I needed a Land Raider Redeemer. Most people rail against the Redeemer for it’s short range – but this suits me just fine. The job of my Land Raider is to deliver it’s payload – a unit of Thunder Hammer/Storm Shield Assault Marines. Since it should be moving as fast as it can for the first two turns it’s short range weapons won’t be as big of a drawback for the way I...

New Deff Dread?

New Deff Dread?

This just in from the GW Newsletter - This is the teaser image from the newsletter showing what is coming in 2010 for 40k. I was trying to figure out exactly what this was and then I went to save it and everything became clear – a new Deff Dread. You can’t really tell more than that by looking at the picture. I am hoping that it is plastic and has gobs of extra bits in it. Judging by the recent plastic Ork kits I think I should be in luck.

The Cat Is Out Of The Bag – German Tyranid Codex Leaked

Well, it took quite a while but the Tyranid codex has finally been leaked – only it is the German Codex. This makes sense though since all the rumor sites are saying that the GW Black Box that shipped to all the markets except Germany didn’t include the new Codex due to a printing mistake. The rumor confirmations are starting to trickle in though – from German based gamers as well as those who live in other countries but speak German. From what I have heard it looks like there are a TON of neat special characters in there. I haven’t heard to many specifics about abilities but I am seeing great modeling opportunities. One of the biggest things that I have seen that was pretty much already confirmed is that Genestealers remain troops and keep their old profile. Something else that I haven’t seen get a lot of...

The Night Before Christmas – 40k style

From the internet and Dakka Dakka: The Night Before 986996.M41 by Patrick Marstall (MarstallP@bah.com) ‘Twas the night before 986996.M41, and all through the station All there was clear, there was no abomination. My helmet was set on the desk to my right, On the chance that I was to need it that night. The guardsmen were ensconced, asleep in their beds, All the tanks too were safe, secure in the sheds. Marines in the barracks, some manning the wall, Assured me that the bastion never would fall. When out in the yard there arose such discord I grabbed up my bolter and unsheathed my sword. Away to the window, I ran to take aim As the marines around me all did the same. My bionic eye turned the night into day Allowed me to see, and to seek out my prey. When what did my loyalist ocular show, But...
