Swords and Wizardry Review

This last weekend I was able to get in a session of roleplaying using the Swords and Wizardry ruleset. I had never played this system before (it is basically a rehash of the original D&D rules) but we broke it in with style – we played through The Tomb of Horrors. For this session our DM (Capnwoodrow from the forums) had pre-genned characters for us. We ended up with six players – we had a Dwarf, an Elf, a Fighting Man, two Clerics (Jester and myself), and a Wizard. We ranged from levels nine to fourteen (Capn used the reccomended character list from the back of the module.) We all started with pretty standard equipment – plate for those who could wear it, a Ring of Protection +1, a magic weapon for the Fighting Man, and spellbooks for the Elf and Wizard. Malifaux Conversion – Hamelin the Plagued

When I started looking through the Rising Powers book for Malifaux there was one faction that just really stuck out to me – Hamelin the Plagued and his crew. Basically the crew is composed of Hamelin (melee beater, pretty stout ranged, and has a lot of neat spells), Rats (worthless), the lost (worthless), and rat-catchers (kind of useless.) Since nearly all units in this warband are really on the weak side, what makes this warband so appealing you ask? It is the synergy. Each unit on it’s own is nothing special, but when you combine them right they turn into something really neat. First off both Hamelin and the Rat-Catchers have a power that when something dies within 6″ of them the model comes back as a rat. This means that if you stack your rats right your opponents can’t permanently get ride of them – they just keep coming back....

Ex Illis Emissarius – Behold the Hugeness

A few weeks ago I got my hands on The Emissarius from Bastion. This guy is for use in Ex Illis. As I had, you have probably seen some pics of this model around the internet. It is the largest model out for Ex Illis and looks pretty slick. Here is a shot of the official artwork off of the box - Now I had seen this model before.
