Ard Boyz Recap

Quite the parking lot in round two

The Ard Boyz prelims have come and gone, with a few of our very own Hogs of War advancing on to the Semi-Finals. We split up a little bit for the weekends events, attending both the Springdale and Mountain Home events. Those advancing from the Springdale event were 1. Jeremy Yates-IG (Wildeyedjester), 2. Matt Harp-Space Wolves (Monkey), 3. Blake Dixon-Tau (bdix) and from the Mountain Home event 1. Eric Bailey-Grey Knights (Sweet E), 2. Dan Lindley- Daemons (Dannato), 3. Billy – Daemons. Looks like we’ll all be headed to Game Zone Alpha in Jacksonville, AR for the Semi’s. I can’t really speak to the Springdale event, but the Mountain Home tournament at the Game Portal was a real good time. Going to a new area where you don’t know the local meta is always fun and exciting. When we walked in and I saw a tray full of IG tanks, I just knew...

Dog days and Ard boyz

With Wargamescon come and gone it’s time for me to start prepairing for Ard boyz and a two day 1850 tournament in Springfield MO called Dog days, It looks like I’m just about ready for both of them I just need to make some minor list tweaks for each since neither of them are at the point level I’m accustomed to. I’ve also been assembling Guardsmen like a madman since IG is going to be my army for next years tournament season, I’ve decided on a Japanese theme for the army since I wanted something aesthetically unique. So far the plan is to green stuff cloaks and Oni masks onto the rank and file and I’ve got some free hand stuff I’m working on for the tanks. See ya’ll next week, Dan

The Evolution of a Beginner Air Brusher

The Evolution of a Beginner Air Brusher

I bought an air brush last week thinking it was going to make my life instantly easier.  WRONG!  I’ve learned that good air brushing is an art form.  I’ve gained a new founded respect for Big_D and Dannato for their air brush skills. Here are some of the things I recommend for new air brush users. 1.  Do a lot of research on mixing paints, and how different types of paints need to be thinned.  This was a big one for me.  There really is no magic formula for how to get good mixes for every kind of paint and every kind of air brush, but you can get pretty close by looking up what people have done before. 2. Take the air brush apart multiple times before you actually ever need to.  The mechanical side of me took over when I got mine, instantly forcing me to disassemble...
