Hey all, Big Al here. It’s been a looong time since I posted something. Real life and all that. With the Warpig tourny this weekend, I’m really looking forward to shaking some dice and moving some plastic dudes. Being a die-hard nid player, I know it will be uphill battles each game ***insert nid codex and FAQ laments here***. So I thought I would put a slightly different list together and have some fun with it, win or lose. Behold:
You’ll see only 2 MC, but the usual contingent of 6 Hive Guard. The new additions include Ymgarls, Hormagaunts, Gargoyles, and the Parasite or Mortrex. Yikes! Not my usual spread, at all. I wanted to go with larger units and less MC (thank you force and poison weapons). The general idea is to put pressure in my opponents backfield with stealers, hormagaunts, and ymgarls while the core advances. The Parasite and gargoyles look for targets of opportunity (and people to impregnate). Either way, it’ll be fun. Wish me luck.

In my games against grey knights and dark eldar, I found genestealers were ALWAYS my MVPS. That list looks solid.
Hi there!
Have you already checked out my new hobby blog, Tale of Painters? I’ve joined forces with Sigur and Garfy, whose models you’ve probably seen in various forums or on the blog on GW.com. We’ve got tutorials, showcases, reviews and various projects going on, e.g. Garfy posts about assembling and painting a mighty Thunderhawk!
We’ve also started a new Blog Network! Join by adding a Tale of Painters banner to your blog, and your newest posts will appear in the Network widget over at Tale of Painters! A great way to promote your blog and find new readers! On top of that, the crew at Tale of Painters keeps a close eye to the Network and will present the best posts in a post of their own!
So come over and check out http://www.taleofpainters.com, I’d very happy
How did the list do at the tournament?
According to Will, I got 2nd and best painted. I was a little fuzzy on the point system. In hindsight, I would have gone without the Tyrant and Parasite, went with a Prime, and brought another large unit of Hormagaunts. I think in the current meta, I have a better chance at closing fast using multiple large units and stunlocking vehicles until they wreck – killing all the trapped occupants. Sounds like a last resort, but it would have made a big difference against Sweet E’s Rhino Knights blasting the crap out of my MC and Hive Guard with all the Psycannons. Stupid play on my part – advancing like some kind of civil war army right into a line of machine guns while I waited on my outflankers to somehow save me.
Bulk units, lots of attacks, fast/fleet seems to be the key. Good to hear you did well!
nice army. well done sir.
