I am starting to see some rumors that tweak the release schedule for this years releases for Warhammer Fantasy and 40k. The previous rumors were that 6th edition was coming out in July. This hasn’t changed, but the next two 40k Codex releases have flip-flopped. I am hearing more and more that the Chaos Legions Codex will be out in may instead of Augst, and that the Dark Angels Codex that was rumored for May will be appearing in September/October. Here is the breakdown that I am seeing -
- March: Tervigon/Tyrannofex / Space Wolves
- April: Empire/ New Paints
- May: 40k Codex / Possible Necron Wave
- June: Lord of the Rings?
- July: 6th Edition
- Sept: Starter Set- Chaos vs Dark Angels
- Oct: 40k Codex
- Rest of Year – Hobbit/Lord of the Rings
The items in the above that I have the most faith in are the new paints in April and the 40k 6th edition in July. Other than that everything is still a bit fuzzy.

I find it hard to believe that they wouldn’t release any more fantasy armies this year, so I would think that another one will be fitted in somewhere (maybe in place of the 40k codex or some hobbit stuff?)
@Dom – I am sure they will fit in at least one more after the Empire, but I am just not seeing any solid rumors on it. The current Fantasy rumors are all over the place, Dwarves, Dark Elves, Bretonnia/Wood Elves, even High Elves are being thrown around to get a new book.
What 40k codexes are they planning on releasing this year? Is it going to be Tau/Eldar or is it going to be Dark Angel in may and then Chaos in October to cordinate with the 6th edition start up set?
There haven’t been any solid leads since January. The current theory is that if we get a ‘dex before 6th it may be Dark Angels or the Legions book. The White Dwarf spines are helping fuel this rumor. Other than that no one knows right now.
