Army Builder on a Mac

I got tired of waiting around for the official release and I got Army Builder running on my Mac. Here is how I did it -

  • Download Wine Bottler - http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/
  • Install it and Wine
  • Open Wine Bottler
  • Select Create Custom Prefixes
  • Check MSXML6
  • Browse to the Army Builder Install File and click through the install
  • Once it is installed exit Army Builder
  • Wine Bottler will then put an icon on your desktop and you can run Army Builder straight from there. No virtual machines, no boot camp.

It has worked well so far, the only issue is that you have to press the space bar instead of clicking on buttons in dialog windows. Once you get into the program you can manipulate units and lists just like normal. Best part about this is that Wine Bottler is free and all of this is above the board legally.

I am using an iMac with OSX Lion 10.7.3 – Feel free to post in the comments if you have any problems. I also got this working under linux earlier today using Wine and Winetricks but it was a bit more involved.
