Pictures are up for the new Forge World Zone Mortalis Set.
The pricing on this set is 90 Pounds per set of four 1′x1′ squares. This means it would run you 540 British Pounds (or about $850 US) to fill up a 4×6 gaming table.
Since that is an awful lot to spend on a set of terrain for an expansion, I decided to look up some alternate sources for some similar terrain. I managed to find two that look like they will do the job at a fraction of the cost.
First up is the Spaceship X set from Creative Gamescapes. This set is $35 for 4 sprues. You don’t get full 1′x1′ sections with this kit, but instead get the components to make just the wall or room sections. These tiles are made of plastic.
The second company I found is Game Craft Miniatures. They make a set of space ship interior terrain that is made out of laser cut MDF board. You can get individual rooms from this company and they range in price from about $6 to $20.
This expansion looks pretty neat and I am glad the terrain option is out there from Forge World, but if I was serious about getting into this aspect of the game I would really have to look at these other companies before shelling out the cash for the Forge World pieces.

Well it’s great to have some alternatives but for one, none of these are any where near as nice, or as modular as the Forgeworld option, and secondly, Forgeworld specifically say you nl;y need a very small playing area for a good game, 6′x4′ would be way over the top.
Ran a quick blog post myself here http://www.tetsugaku.info/zone-mortalis-forgeworld-releases-free-new-warhammer-40k-expansion-fantastic-scenery/
I think that the forge world already have the detail, the other options although viable need some work before being as usable.
Okay I’m loving that Spaceship X terrain. Its a real gamers set… the low walls meaning that you can put the terrain away without it taking up too much space. It seems pretty reasonably priced and being plastic should allow for easy combining with other plastic terrain sets such as Cities of Death panels!
