Over the weekend I put together a little ebook on how to make hills for wargaming. These hills will work great for any system and are cheap, sturdy, and quick to make. You can check out the pdf here – Wargaming Terrain Tutorial – Making Hills - or you can also find it in our resources section.
The best part about the method I used to make the hills is that when they are done they are really tough. I have had countless foam hills in the past that just fell apart with use. These hills end up being tougher for two reasons – I used a heat gun on them, and I put on a nice layer of wood glue. The heat gun ends up shrinking the foam just a tiny but, but this causes the surface of it to become more dense and thereby tougher. The wood glue forms a nice protective shell over the foam that ends up being stronger than Elmers white glue.
If you need a few hills for your table be sure to check out the pdf at the above link, hopefully there are a few tips in there that you can get some use out ot.
