We all survived the journey to Austin and managed to make it back in one piece. It was an awesome tournament and was very well done this year.
The Bols guys did a terrific job – even more so than years past. The bigger venue was excellent and gave needed space for moving around.
The schedule was adhered to and the judging was done proactively. I cracked a book open three times during the 10 games and each time a judge asked me what I was looking for before I found the page. I thought this was a nice touch, and coupled with an extended 2 hours 15 minute games meant most people were finishing their games.
I also really liked all the demos and the vendor areas. Props to the Privateer Press guys who ran demos and gave away starter boxes to everyone who tried it. Catering to a customer base and being visible in the community for the win!
Anyway here is a picture of the gang prior to us ordering 400$ in food at Buca di Beppo as a day 2 survivors feast. Notice the mark of shame one of our number wears that Goatboy so nicely enhanced for us.
Several of us faired pretty well:
Monkey and I received sports in doubles.
Dannato got third best sport in fantasy
And I managed to pick up sports in the GT
